FLOOD is a drowning outcome from a foursome which was formed back
in 1998. What these guys had in common was similar taste in music
and attitude - and that's what keeps their heads above water ...
Style? Influences? Comparisons? Their crowd often points out to
C.O.C. / Danzig / Kyuss / Black Sabbath. Needless to say more ...
Flood has risen up from the ashes after the split of prominent Czech
thrash metal band TERMINATOR: Mira Laga
kept on banging on drums,
Petr Laga still plays guitar (yes, they're brothers, if you haven't
figured out yet) and Rene Hilek eventually switched from lead (!)
guitar to bass. After two years of miking the poor twisted three of
them Tommy Rakvica was the one to dare to pick the mike up - and in
a great way! Every single member of Flood has been in a number of
different bands before (Terminator, Krabathor, Catenary, Black
Heaven or The Flies, to name a few) and have had been playing for
ten years already now - at least.
With the line-up finally fixed Flood entered generally highly
appreciated studio Shaark in June 1999 and in October the first
promo CD "Flood In The Discount Furniture Mart" was finally recorded
& mixed. Containing six tracks the CD offers some of the highlights
from Flood's 90 minutes live set.
In February 2000 there came another change in FLOOD. Bass guitarist
Rene Hilek left the band to continue his guitarist career in other
hard & heavy formation. Dalibor "Boban" Trebal has been found as a
guy who is able to fill the empty space in group and he's made 2
lyrics for Flood debut CD "Flood In The Discount Furniture Mart"
(Foreign Soul, All In Vain) recently, furthermore.
Well, in 2000 Boban joined FLOOD (once for all?). A song "Foreign
Soul" was chosen among 17 other songs of bands from all around the
world to be part of Rock Hard Magazine project - CD called "Unhörten"
(Unheard). This compilation was distributed as a February issue
enclosure. Many gigs in Czech Republic have followed and some of
them been made in abroad as well (Austria, Switzerland, Poland,
Hungary). These positive facts stiffened the new line-up and it was
crowned by great offer ...
FLOOD supported Alice Cooper Czech show in June 2000 (Guys have
passed similar experience of support band for Annihilator or
Helloween a few years ago).
By the end of 2000 FLOOD changed their rehearsal room and gutarist
Petr moved to Zlin consequently and all family moved to city where
Tommy and Boban lived.
Slowly has been coming up the time for new influences and
inspiration - the band has started to create new songs. In summer
2002 all guitars and amps "changed address" and the work in Bzenec
Shaark studio started again! At the end of this hard work FLOOD has
wanted to record its unique sound! ... and it´s been done without
any doubts! Nevertheless it´s been so long road! The time itself has
become their biggest enemy! Finally every imagination was fulfilled
and more than one year recording came to a successful end in autumn
2003. Financially and physically tired band must look up again and
start to look for an editor company to persuade them to sign a
contract with FLOOD !!!
Succeeded !!! - REDBLACK company has taken FLOOD under wings and
guys become members of their big family! In January 2004 CD called
"Drivera" was finally released !!!
Promo activities and Redblack Days shows have followed and FLOOD has
been successful on radio air (AZ radio, Radio Beat Prague) at that
time as well.
January 2005, a band decides to record a video for "Blood On The
White Wall" in beg of 2005, you can check out and download on web as
well.
Throughout the whole 2005, the time has come for new material with
plans to record the new album within the beg of 2006. December 2005,
the band gets ready to attack the studio again, having 9 songs as a
final choice. "Closer Than Ever"
is a name for the second album presenting the band under a different
light. The album was released under the wings of Redblack as well.
In June 2006, right after the day the album is released, songs
called "On my Own" and "Nothing Up My Sleeve" are being played in
main rotations on pretty well known radio stations around Czech
Republic.
A band presents the video "Blood on the white wall" and the whole
album on TV Ocko. A Jack Daniels competition for czech bands takes
them to play a show in the prague club titled "Abaton"
